ENVI Paper gets Okay for House of reps
Tasmanian made carbon neutral ENVI paper has been given the okay for use in the offices of Parliament House says Federal Member for Braddon Sid Sidebottom MP.
Mr. Sidebottom said he was delighted to receive word from the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Harry Jenkins MP, that he had approved ENVI for use by MPs in their Parliament House offices.
He said this change had come after he had written to Mr Jenkins, along with other senior members responsible for Government purchasing, about using ENVI and other locally made products.
"I have been a strong supporter of ENVI products since I was first introduced to them last year at the Burnie paper mill," Mr Sidebottom said.
In a letter to Mr Sidebottom, Mr Jenkins said the Department of House of representatives was focussed on its obligation to take responsible steps to assist in the protection of the environment.
He said with this in mind he would approve stocking of ENVI paper to be available to Members as an alternative to other recycled papers already on offer.
"This is yet another way we can all play a small part in helping the environment, while also supporting Australian jobs, and I will be urging all of my Parliamentary colleagues to consider using ENVI," Mr Sidebottom said.
Earlier this year the then Special Minister of State, Senator John Faulkner, approved the use of ENVI in the electorate offices of MPs and Senators.
