New Australian Passports Now Made with ENVI Carbon Neutral Paper
On 15th July, 2009 the Hon Mr. Stephen Smith MP, Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs, launched the new N Series passport printed on Australian made ENVI carbon neutral paper.
“The N Series passport represents not just the Australian Government’s commitment to provide its citizens with a travel document which is secure, but one which demonstrates our determination to be responsible environmental managers” said The Hon Stephen Smith MP, Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs.
Manufactured at Australian Paper’s Shoalhaven Mill, ENVI passport paper is officially certified Greenhouse FriendlyTM carbon neutral by the Australian Government Department of Climate Change, and is the first paper range to be awarded the certification by the government.
“Australian Paper has been at the forefront of delivering products that meet consumer demands for environmental credentials. We are experiencing a growing adoption rate of ENVI from both Government and ASX listed businesses.” said Mr Jim Henneberry, Executive General Manager, Australian Paper “ENVI provides a valuable solution for organisations, including Government who wish to genuinely reduce their scope 3 emissions and environmental footprint.”
All of the carbon emissions associated with raw materials, manufacture, distribution and disposal of the ENVI grade have been offset through a Greenhouse Friendly abatement provider, delivering the grade to the market as 100% carbon neutral.
It is estimated that each year approximately 125t of CO2e will be neutralised through using ENVI carbon neutral passport paper. This is the equivalent of taking 25 cars (Holden Commodores) off the road for a year.
